Located in the heart of the city, the Travelodge hotel is ideally placed for visitors. Formed from two volumes, the bedroom wings hinge on the corner of the site and wrap themselves around the centrally located circulation, and the neighbouring re-generated warehouse. Addressing their individual contexts the two blocks are treated with separate finishing and materiality. The accommodation sits over ground floor hotel facilities and commercial space.
It is to the credit of city planners that such a strong idea could be realised in the midst of a conservation area which now enjoys UNESCO status.
