Darren joined shedkm in 2013 and is an Associate Director based in the Liverpool studio, as well as a Trustee Director of the Employee-Owned Trust (EOT). He works across studios to promote knowledge-sharing around MMC and sustainable design.

Darren chairs the ‘impact’ group, overseeing sustainability, social value and shedkm’s B Corp certification. He has a long-standing interest in low-carbon design and leads the environment atelier, including the development of our Sustainability Manifesto.

With extensive experience in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), Darren led the development of shedkm’s modular housing products – including the factory-built Town and Row Houses and CLT Mansion House apartments. As well as designing the homes, he also works on placemaking and masterplanning for large-scale residential projects. He has also worked on a wide range of new-build and retrofit projects across sectors, from commercial schemes in the South to cultural projects in the North.

Outside the studio, Darren is active in the profession – he is a member of RIBA North West, founder of the Liverpool Young Architects Society (now the Liverpool Architecture Foundation), and sits on judging panels for the RIBA Awards and Civic Trust Awards.
