James joined shedkm in 2021 as an Associate, later becoming Associate Director in 2023. He works directly with Hazel Rounding in evolving the One Practice national integrated approach to both client service and team delivery. Based in the Liverpool studio, he regularly visits London and works on schemes across the UK and with resource from both studios.
Previously a Director at Glenn Howells Architects, James is highly experienced in managing projects and working with the consultant team and wider stakeholders.
James has worked on one-off homes, to large urban regeneration projects in the residential, commercial, education and culture sectors. James’ approach combines high quality design with a strong sustainability agenda.
He is currently working on a multi-component, large masterplan in London, which will redevelop an old gasholder site. He also champions new bids and business development opportunities.
He is a board member of the Midland Art Centre and a specialist advisor to the National Trust.
